"Give a man a fish and he's fed for the day. Teach a man to fish and he's fed for life." Pretty self-explanatory. You've heard it a thousand times. But it paints a powerful image of what I believe is the situation we are all in right now when it comes to technology. We rarely "fish" for products that we buy/consume. We are only given them. Intentionally. On occasion, vendors may provide the illusion of fishing, but in reality we are not much better off than anyone else looking for a handout - vulnerable, hungry, anxious and, frankly, pissed at the situation. Of course, you can learn to program in Java or study circuit design, etc. but come on. It's not in any vendor's best interest to make it easy. But I think they're in for a surprise. There is a seismic shift underway that will put the technological power normally considered available to only large organizations into the hands of anyone who's interested in wielding it. We the people, are learning how to "fish". Given some momentum, this alone could change the economic landscape for good. And that IS good. It's hard living on handouts.
